Ghana international Prince Osei Owusu has dismissed allegations circulating on social media claiming he was dropped from the Black Stars after refusing to hand over a portion of his appearance fees and bonuses to officials of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
The claims gained traction after a viral video featured a woman identifying herself as the striker’s aunt. In the video, she alleged that Owusu was asked to surrender 70 percent of his appearance fee and winning bonus and was subsequently excluded from the national team after refusing to comply.
However, sources close to the player have described the allegations as false and without merit.
Owusu Rejects Viral Allegations
According to sources cited by JoySports, the CF Montréal forward has completely distanced himself from both the woman in the video and the claims she made.
The sources said Owusu does not know the individual and has never authorized her, or anyone else, to speak on his behalf regarding his relationship with the Ghana Football Association or matters concerning the Black Stars.
His representatives also denied any knowledge of the alleged incident, insisting that no such demand has ever been made to the player.
Committed to the Black Stars
Despite the online speculation, Owusu remains committed to representing Ghana whenever he receives a national team call-up.
Sources close to the striker say he has never publicly accused the Ghana Football Association of demanding money or imposing financial conditions for selection to the national team.
The clarification is intended to put an end to the speculation and prevent misinformation from affecting his relationship with the Black Stars and Ghanaian football supporters.

Owusu received his first call-up to the Black Stars for the Kirin Cup in 2025 and has since become part of Ghana’s national team setup.
