Nigerian disc jockey Florence Otedola, popularly known as DJ Cuppy, has reflected on how her Christian faith has changed her priorities, helping her move beyond a constant need for public approval.
In a video shared on TikTok, the entertainer admitted that her early career was shaped by insecurity and a strong desire to remain relevant.
“I wanted to be relevant. I was scared of not being important. I craved clout,” she said.
Cuppy explained that her relationship with God had brought her a sense of peace, allowing her to stop measuring her worth by the attention she received.
Referencing Galatians 1:10, she said her focus had shifted towards pleasing God. She paraphrased the biblical passage as a reminder that seeking people’s approval should not take precedence over serving Christ.
According to the DJ, that principle now guides her approach to life and has reduced the influence of public opinion on her decisions.
“I no longer care what people think,” she added.
Her latest reflection builds on earlier public statements about her spiritual journey. In April 2025, Cuppy described following Christ as involving a “death of self,” explaining it as a process of surrendering ego, worldly attachments and excessive self-reliance.
Those remarks similarly emphasized her desire to build a life guided by faith and greater self-awareness.
