Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has reportedly reached a $35 billion cloud-computing agreement with Lambda, an Nvidia-backed infrastructure provider specializing in graphics processing unit capacity.
The deal ranks among the largest AI infrastructure commitments announced to date, reflecting the intensifying competition among leading technology companies to secure electricity, data-center space and advanced chips for future development.
Under the agreement, Lambda will provide Anthropic with dedicated computing resources connected to a data-center campus with an estimated power capacity of 350 megawatts.
The infrastructure is located at the Beacon Point campus in Nueces County, Texas. Digital infrastructure company Hut 8 is currently developing the site.
Nvidia reportedly occupies several positions within the arrangement. In addition to supplying the GPUs and investing in Lambda, the chipmaker is said to hold the primary lease on the Texas data-center facility.
Lambda will operate within the campus and deploy clusters of Nvidia GPUs to provide computing capacity directly to Anthropic.
The infrastructure will support the continued development of Anthropic’s Claude family of AI models, including model training, research and large-scale enterprise inference.
Inference refers to the computing process through which a trained AI model responds to prompts and performs tasks for users. The demand for this capacity rises as more individuals and businesses adopt AI systems.
The additional resources will also support products such as Claude Code, Anthropic’s software-development tool. Coding agents can require significant computing power because they analyses large codebases, generate software and complete complex tasks over extended periods.
The agreement highlights how access to electricity and advanced computing hardware has become a major competitive factor in the AI industry.
Developers of frontier models are increasingly reserving data-center capacity and GPU clusters years in advance to protect themselves against possible shortages as demand grows.
Anthropic’s reported partnership with Lambda follows a separate $45 billion, multiyear computing commitment with AI cloud provider Nscale for infrastructure in West Virginia.
Together, the two agreements represent about $80 billion in long-term computing commitments, underscoring the scale of Anthropic’s infrastructure expansion.
The investments are expected to help the company train more capable versions of Claude while supporting the growing volume of customers using its models and enterprise services.
The arrangement also demonstrates Nvidia’s expanding influence throughout the AI infrastructure market. Beyond manufacturing chips, the company has invested in cloud providers and participated in data-Centre projects that deploy its hardware.
As competition among frontier AI companies intensifies, long-term access to power, data centers and high-performance chips is becoming as important as model research itself. Anthropic’s agreements with Lambda and Nscale reflect the industry’s broader effort to secure the infrastructure needed for the next generation of artificial intelligence.
