Accident injures church members

On Sunday, an accident involving four vehicles on the Accra-Kasoa highway at Menskrom, Weija Junction, resulted in various injuries for up to 50 members of the Resurrection Power New Generation Church.

The vehicles involved in the accident were a Toyota Vitz belonging to a police officer, a KIA Rio taxi, an old Benz, and a bus carrying church members. Eyewitnesses reported that the police officer, traveling from the Kasoa tollbooth to Accra, made a dangerous overtaking maneuver and collided with the Tata bus, causing the accident. As the police officer’s car approached the traffic light at Weija Junction, it struck the church bus and two other parked vehicles along the roadside. Many eyewitnesses attributed the collision to the police officer driving the Toyota Vitz.

According to one witness, two church members are believed to have died, and several others have sustained critical injuries.

The bus was carrying approximately 50 individuals, including children. The taxi driver, whose vehicle was also damaged in the crash, held the officer responsible for the accident. Authorities, including the Ghana Fire Service and the police, were at the scene to ensure a smooth traffic flow.
