Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) in South Africa, has emphasized the importance of former presidents ensuring the maturation of democracy in Africa. He urged them not to engage in conflicts with current presidents but to allow new leaders to govern with vigor.

Speaking at a public discussion in Accra, Ghana, hosted by the socialist pressure group Arise Ghana, Malema called on African leaders not to cling to power and to avoid seeking to extend their tenure through force. He stressed the need for a generational mix in leadership, where the wisdom of the old is passed on to the younger generation.

Malema advocated for a peaceful retirement for former presidents, emphasizing the importance of stability and democracy in Africa.
