John Dumelo, the Deputy Minister-Designate for Food and Agriculture, has firmly stated that he is not affiliated with any secret societies within the Catholic Church.
Appearing before the Appointments Committee on February 25, 2025, Dumelo brought a rosary with him, affirming his strong Catholic faith.
However, when questioned by Minority Leader Afenyo-Markin about whether he belonged to any Catholic fraternity or society, Dumelo emphatically denied any such membership.
“I don’t belong to any society in the Catholic Church,” he stated.
The Ayawaso West Wuogon MP acknowledged that he is aware of various Catholic associations but clarified that he is unfamiliar with their inner workings.
“I am familiar with them but not with their dealings,” he added.
The Catholic Church hosts various organizations that promote Christian principles, including Freemasonry, the Knights and Ladies of Marshall, and the Knights and Ladies of St. John. However, Dumelo maintained that he has no affiliation with any of these groups.
