Richard Jakpa’s dismissal from the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) was formally presented as crucial evidence in the ongoing ambulance procurement trial, delivered by Deputy Attorney General Alfred Tuah-Yeboah on Thursday, June 27.

Despite vigorous objections from the defense team, the judge ultimately admitted the dismissal letter into evidence.

The prosecution argued that Jakpa’s termination letter was vital for establishing his character and shedding light on his role in the ambulance procurement process. The letter cited reasons for his dismissal, including allegations of misconduct and breaches of military regulations.

Deputy AG Tuah-Yeboah underscored the significance of Jakpa’s dismissal in contextualizing his involvement in the procurement case, emphasizing that it revealed behavioral patterns crucial for understanding the broader implications of the charges against him.

In contrast, defense lawyers strongly opposed the admission of the dismissal letter, arguing that it was irrelevant and unfair to influence the current case with Jakpa’s past employment issues. They emphasized the importance of maintaining focus on evidence directly related to the ambulance procurement allegations.

After deliberation following a brief recess amidst intense arguments, the court decided to admit the dismissal letter into evidence, dismissing the defense’s objections.
