April 24th declared holiday

The Ministry of Interior has announced that Monday, April 24, 2023. As per the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (ACT 601), the President has issued an executive instrument to declare April 24 a public holiday, since April 22 falls on a Saturday. The statement, signed by Mr. Ambrose Dery, the Minister for the Interior, emphasized that the holiday should be observed nationwide.

Muslims around the globe celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr – “the feast of fast-breaking.” It marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, during which Muslims refrain from eating or drinking from dawn to dusk. The announcement of an additional public holiday on April 24 has brought joy and anticipation to the Muslim community in Ghana, as they make preparations for the festive celebrations with their families and loved ones.
