As of June 12, 2025, Ghana’s Black Queens have dropped to 66th in the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings, falling one spot from their 65th position in March. On the African continent, they also slid from 5th to 6th place, marking a slight decline from their recent best.
The dip in rankings reflects the team’s recent inconsistent form under Head Coach Kim Lars Björkegren. In their last four matches, the Queens managed only one victory — a narrow 1-0 win over Senegal in a friendly. They also suffered two defeats and recorded one draw, results that have affected their global and continental standings.
Despite the setback, the team remains focused as they gear up for the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) 2025, which kicks off in Morocco from July 5 to 26.
Ghana has been placed in Group C, where they will face South Africa, Mali, and Tanzania in what promises to be a competitive group stage.
With WAFCON just weeks away, the Black Queens will be aiming to bounce back and reaffirm their place among Africa’s elite.
