Jennifer Anaale Apingu, an outstanding graduate of Navrongo Senior High School, was the proud representative of her school in the esteemed 2021 edition of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ). Despite excelling in her West Africa Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (WASSCE), she works as an alcohol retailer at a drinking shop to make ends meet. Her remarkable academic achievements, including 5As, 2Bs, and 1C, were acknowledged by renowned investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni, who shared her story on his birthday, hoping to garner support for her dream of pursuing higher education.

Jennifer’s journey has been one of determination and resilience. Previously, she worked as a head porter (kayayo) at the Ejisu market, dedicating herself to funding her education up to the Senior High School level. Despite her hardships, she displayed exceptional intellect and academic prowess, leading her to achieve outstanding grades, as clear in a photograph shared.

Jennifer faces significant challenges in fulfilling her dream of attending university. Although she has applied to prestigious institutions like the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the University of Development Studies (UDS), the lack of financial support jeopardizes her enrollment prospects.
Manasseh’s heartfelt appeal on Facebook, dated Thursday, July 27, 2023, has prompted a strong response from Ghanaians. Many individuals have pledged to extend their support in various ways, while others call upon benevolent nongovernmental and governmental organizations to aid this brilliant yet financially disadvantaged student. The community’s collective efforts seek to provide Jennifer with the opportunity she deserves to pursue her educational aspirations and fulfill her potential.
