
GCB Bank PLC has been appointed as the official collecting bank for the newly established Ghana Sports Fund, an initiative aimed at providing sustainable financing for sports development in the country.
The appointment was announced during a courtesy visit by the Bank to the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.
Established under Act 1159, the Ghana Sports Fund is designed to mobilize and manage resources to support sports infrastructure, athlete development and welfare, grassroots and youth programmes, as well as Ghana’s participation in regional and international competitions.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister Kofi Adams expressed confidence in GCB Bank’s capacity to support the initiative, describing the partnership as one built on a shared commitment to the growth of sports in Ghana.
On behalf of the Managing Director of GCB Bank, Executive Head of Corporate Banking, Linus Kumi, assured the Ministry of the Bank’s full support, noting that GCB will deploy its nationwide branch network, digital platforms, and secure collection systems to ensure transparency and efficiency.
With its extensive presence across the country, GCB Bank says it is committed to supporting the successful rollout of the Ghana Sports Fund and contributing to the long-term development of sports nationwide.
