The National Road Safety Authority (NRSA) has issued a safety advisory urging motorists to exercise caution when driving near the Brimso Bridge on the N6 (Accra-Kumasi) Highway.
Following an inspection, the NRSA identified several hazards on the bridge, including broken guard rails, a depression on the bitumen surface, and poor visibility at night due to the absence of streetlights.
According to the NRSA, the damaged guard rails on both sides of the bridge pose a significant danger to vehicles, especially if a driver were to veer off the road. The authority emphasized the increased risk at night, warning that poor visibility further heightens the likelihood of accidents.
“Visibility at the bridge is very poor at night due to the absence of streetlights,” the NRSA noted, urging drivers to reduce their speed and remain vigilant when approaching the area.
The NRSA has formally alerted the Ghana Highway Authority about the safety concerns and the urgent need for repairs.
In the meantime, motorists are advised to remain cautious when navigating the bridge, which is located between Bunso (near the Linda Dor Rest Stop) and the Anyinasin Junction on the N6 Highway.
