Executives of the Central Regional branch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have officially expressed their endorsement for Mavis Hawa Koomson in anticipation of the party’s parliamentary primaries slated for January 27.
The party leaders have conveyed their confidence in Mavis Hawa Koomson, trusting her candidacy to secure the coveted victory and retain the parliamentary seat.
Having successfully led the NPP in the Awutu Senya East Constituency to victory for three consecutive terms, Mavis Hawa Koomson has declared her intention to seek a fourth term in Parliament and has entered the parliamentary candidacy race.
Despite facing competition from two other candidates in the race, Percy Dennis, the Acting Chairman of the Central Regional branch of the NPP, has declared Mavis Hawa Koomson as the party’s best hope for maintaining the parliamentary seat.
Percy Dennis highlighted the shift in voter preferences observed in the constituency, citing the improved performance of the opposition NDC in the 2020 elections, where they featured a female candidate. He emphasized the need to field Mavis Hawa Koomson as the NPP’s candidate in response to the apparent preference for female leadership among the constituency’s voters.
During an address to party delegates following a rally to strengthen her support base, Mavis Hawa Koomson asserted herself as the most qualified candidate among the contenders. She pledged to secure yet another victory in both the parliamentary and presidential elections for the New Patriotic Party.
