Franklin Cudjoe, the President of IMANI Africa, lauded Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan, former chairman of Ghana’s Electoral Commission (EC), as the most practical Electoral Commissioner the country has witnessed. Cudjoe praised Afari Gyan’s hands-on approach in overseeing Ghana’s electoral procedures, highlighting his adeptness in maneuvering through the nation’s intricate political landscape.

Cudjoe credited the smooth execution of numerous elections during Afari Gyan’s tenure to his pragmatic methods, contrasting them with what he perceives as a lack of the same in the current commissioner, Jean Mensa. While acknowledging the challenges Afari Gyan encountered, Cudjoe stressed his effectiveness and practicality in the role.

“He has undoubtedly been the most pragmatic among all the ECs we’ve had,” Cudjoe remarked during an interview on Citi TV. Additionally, he criticized Jean Mensa, alleging her failure to instill public trust in the Electoral Commission, a feat Cudjoe believes could have been accomplished with a more practical approach.
