The New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary witnessed a resounding victory for Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, securing a remarkable 61.43% of the total valid votes cast.
Dr. Bawumia’s commanding win solidifies his prominent position within the party and positions him as a frontrunner in the upcoming general elections.
Out of the total valid votes cast, Dr. Bawumia received a remarkable 118,210 votes, significantly surpassing his closest competitors. Kennedy Agyapong garnered 71,991 votes, accounting for 37.42% of the total valid votes cast, putting up a strong performance but unable to challenge Dr. Bawumia’s lead.
In the NPP’s flagbearer competition, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto secured 1,459 votes, representing 0.76% of the total valid votes cast. While his support was relatively modest, his participation in the race reflects the party’s commitment to a democratic selection process.
Francis Addai-Nimoh, another candidate in the NPP presidential primary, received a modest 781 votes, equivalent to 0.41% of the total. Despite his limited impact, his dedication to the NPP’s cause underscores the party’s inclusivity.
