Fidelity Bank’s Focus on Sustainability Strategy

Fidelity Bank has restated its commitment to pursuing an ambitious strategy focused on sustainability, social impact, and responsible corporate practices. The bank has established a dedicated department called Partnerships, Sustainability & Corporate Social Responsibility to drive this agenda. This new department will collaborate with all other business departments to integrate sustainability principles into all aspects of the bank’s operations. The aim is to deliver maximum value to stakeholders while minimizing the bank’s impact on the environment and society.

In a statement released by the bank, it emphasized its sustainability vision, which is to foster a sustainable future for all Ghanaians. This vision encompasses supporting inclusive economic growth, reducing the bank’s environmental footprint, maintaining high standards of governance and ethics, and engaging with stakeholders to build trust and foster long-term partnerships.

One of the major initiatives within the comprehensive Sustainability and Social Impact plan is the Orange Impact project, which is already in progress. This flagship Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) intervention aims to provide customized resources and facility upgrades to fifteen marginalized schools nationwide over three years.

These updates were highlighted during the bank’s recent virtual Annual General Meeting (AGM) on May 26, 2023. Shareholders could review and adopt the directors’ report for the fiscal year ending on December 31, 2022. Edward Effah, the immediate past Board Chairman of Fidelity Bank, reiterated the bank’s renewed focus on environmental, social, and governance (ESG) factors as an integral part of its overarching business strategy. He emphasized the bank’s role in ensuring a sustainable future and its commitment to integrating ESG concepts.

Fidelity Bank also aligns its design with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and recognizes sustainability as an ongoing journey, pledging continuous improvement in sustainability practices and positive environmental impact.
