Huawei, the Chinese multinational technology company, has launched its FinTech 2.0 program in Ghana to deepen financial inclusion and support the country’s mobile money sector. The initiative aims to provide an accessible and convenient way for Ghanaians to conduct financial transactions and help them join the formal financial system.

Through the program, Huawei will collaborate with financial institutions in Ghana to develop innovative digital financial products and services accessible through mobile phones. The company has already partnered with MTN Ghana, the leading mobile network operator in the country, to launch a mobile money service called MoMo Pay, which will enable customers to make payments using their mobile phones.

Huawei’s FinTech 2.0 program also seeks to address the challenges faced by Ghana’s financial sector, including low levels of financial literacy and inadequate infrastructure. The program will provide training and support to financial institutions to help them improve their digital capabilities and provide better customer services.

Speaking at the program’s launch, the Managing Director of Huawei Ghana, Tommy Zhou, emphasized the importance of financial inclusion in driving economic growth and development. He stated, “with Huawei’s expertise in technology and innovation, we are well-positioned to support Ghana’s financial sector and drive the country’s digital transformation.”

Ghana’s Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who was present at the launch, commended Huawei for its commitment to supporting Ghana’s financial sector. He stated, “Huawei’s FinTech 2.0 program will promote financial inclusion and help Ghana achieve its goal of building a more inclusive and prosperous society.”
With Huawei’s FinTech 2.0 program, Ghana is set to experience a significant transformation in its financial sector, with more people gaining access to formal financial services and mobile money becoming more widely used.
