In the upcoming 2024 GHALCA President’s Cup, former champions Asante Kotoko are set to encounter Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas. This annual single-match tournament, organized by the Ghana League Clubs Association to honor the sitting President of Ghana, will be held in Kumasi.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has granted approval for the event and confirmed that the President’s Cup will kick off at 3 pm on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium. This scheduling aligns with Ghana’s Independence Day celebration.

A letter from General Secretary Prosper Harrison Addo to the Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) conveyed the approval, stating, “The GFA is pleased to inform you that approval has been granted for this year’s President’s Cup between Asante Kotoko SC and Asec Mimosas of Cote D’Ivoire at the Baba Yara Sports stadium on Tuesday, March 5, 2024. You are hereby informed to abide by all GFA Regulations on the organization of matches.”

As a consequence of this decision, Ghana Premier League games initially set for Wednesday, March 6, 2024, will be rescheduled.

The defending champions, Accra Hearts of Oak, secured the title in the 2023 edition by defeating Asante Kotoko 1-0.
