
The Ghana Police Service has launched an investigation into the tragic death of Yabane Deladem Aku, a 21-year-old Level 400 Biological Science student at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.
A suspect, Daniel Tuffour, has been taken into custody and is assisting with the investigation.
In a statement released on Thursday, February 27, 2025, police revealed that preliminary investigations indicated the deceased was found unconscious in the early hours of the morning behind the Central Laboratory on campus.
“She was pronounced dead by medical authorities from KNUST Hospital, who examined the body at the scene before it was transported to the hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy,” the statement read.
Further examination of the body revealed signs of violence, raising concerns about the circumstances surrounding her death.
Following additional crime scene investigations, Daniel Tuffour was arrested and remains in police custody as investigations continue.
