Former Minister for Gender and Children Affairs, Otiko Djaba, has criticized the Akufo-Addo government for its treatment of school-feeding caterers. According to her, the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) needs to take corrective measures to address the concerns of Ghanaians. She emphasized that citizens entrusted their future to the government by voting for the NPP in the 2020 elections, and it is now the government’s responsibility to make better decisions.

Djaba’s comments came after caterers in the Ashanti Region expressed dissatisfaction with the delay in payment of their arrears and the 97 pesewas granted to children. She expressed her anger with the government’s slow response to the issue, stating that prompt action should be taken to address the matter. Djaba reminded the government that leaders are elected to solve problems and emphasized the need for serious decisions to be taken.

Djaba called on the government to take criticism constructively and focus on the development of the people rather than political gains. Furthermore, Djaba urged the government to communicate effectively with the people and treat them respectfully. She emphasized that citizens deserve better and that being in a leadership position is a privilege.
