It is okay for Christians to listen to secular music – Daughters of Glorious Jesus

Contrary to the belief of many gospel musicians who consider secular music corrupting good values and unsuitable for Christians, the renowned gospel trio Daughters of Glorious Jesus hold a different perspective. During a guest appearance on United Television’s ‘United Showbiz,’ Cynthia Appiadu, Edna Sarpong, and Monica Owusu Ansah encouraged Christians to listen to secular music if it contains positive lyrics that can impact them positively.

According to Edna, a group member, “God is the source of talent.” As Christians, we can listen to secular music without it affecting our faith. Monica, another group member, also reiterated this point, saying she and her husband were fans of Kojo Antwi and that listening to his songs took nothing away from them.

The group emphasized the need for Christians to exercise caution when listening to any musical genre that can influence their moral behavior. They also stated that liking secular music or any other genre did not make one less of a Christian. As Monica pointed out, Kojo Antwi attends church, and some of his songs offer sound advice and can be enjoyed with a spouse.

In summary, the Daughters of Glorious Jesus, a gospel trio, believe secular music is not necessarily harmful to Christians. Listening to it can be beneficial if the lyrics have a positive impact. However, they caution Christians to be mindful of music’s influence on their behavior and to exercise discernment when selecting the music they listen to.
