James Gyakye Quayson Swearing-In & Trial

OIP

James Gyakye Quayson, the newly elected Member of Parliament for Assin North, is scheduled to be sworn in today, as announced by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban S.K. Bagbin, earlier this morning. Today marks the resumption of parliamentary proceedings after an unexpected adjournment last Tuesday because of a lack of quorum. Numerous Members of Parliament from the Majority and Minority factions had traveled to the Assin North Constituency in the Central Region to participate in the political campaign and monitor the by-election.

Before his parliamentary swearing-in, Gyakye Quayson has a criminal trial scheduled for this morning. Subsequently, he will proceed to Parliament to take the oath of office. The Speaker of Parliament made these remarks during a visit to the offices of Graphic Communications Group Limited (GCGL), where he met with the management and editorial staff. This visit was part of the Speaker’s effort to enhance the relationship between Parliament and the media. It was the Speaker’s first official visit to a media organization since assuming office. Accompanying him were several staff members from his office.
