Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) President, Kwesi Nyantakyi, has been acquitted by an Accra High Court, bringing an end to a five-year legal battle.
The court’s decision was largely due to the prosecution’s failure to present evidence, despite initially listing five witnesses—none of whom were called to testify.
Delivering the ruling, Justice Marie-Louise Simmonds stated that the prosecution had failed to establish a case against Nyantakyi and his co-accused, leading to their acquittal.
The case stemmed from a 2018 investigative exposé by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas, which led to Nyantakyi’s resignation as GFA President and his subsequent legal troubles.
