Kweku Fafada, a 21-year-old pragya rider, is currently in critical condition after being attacked with a cutlass by Kofi Abomi, a mentally challenged individual. The incident occurred when Fafada attempted to intervene in a fight between Abomi and another mentally ill person, Kwame Anin, in Ajumako within the Ajumako-Enyan-Essiam Constituency in the Central Region.
Eyewitnesses reported that Fafada, acting as a peacemaker, successfully separated the two mentally deranged individuals during their altercation. However, this action angered Kofi Abomi, who then pulled out a sharp cutlass and viciously attacked Fafada.
The severity of the cutlass assault left the pragya rider unconscious, and he was promptly rushed to the hospital for urgent medical attention.
According to Metro News, Fafada is the brother of Kwame Anin, who had been subjected to abuse by Abomi. This familial connection likely influenced Fafada’s decision to intervene, ultimately leading to the brutal attack.
Allegations against the suspect include assaulting women on the streets, engaging in inappropriate physical contact, and, in some instances, committing sexual assaults at night.
In the aftermath of the heinous deed, enraged residents of the area retaliated by beating the suspect. Although he was later taken to the Ajumako District Police Command, he was inexplicably released.
Local residents express frustration, stating that despite multiple reports to the police about the suspect’s misconduct, no action has been taken against him.
