The Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) of Ghana is calling on citizens to take a more active role in addressing the nation’s drug challenges. During an appearance on Adwenekasa on Original TV, officials emphasized a dual approach of strict law enforcement and public education to tackle drug abuse and smuggling.

Patrick Agyapong from NACOC’s Education Department stressed the importance of educating the public alongside enforcing drug laws and providing rehabilitation services. Clara Botchway highlighted the Commission’s regulatory role in monitoring synthetic and chemical drug imports to protect public health. Sandra Abaka-Quansah reaffirmed NACOC’s commitment to reducing hard drug use nationwide.

Officials also announced plans to unify rehabilitation centers to improve treatment outcomes and coordination. However, they acknowledged ongoing logistical challenges, especially in identifying unauthorized trafficking routes.

NACOC is appealing to the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious drug-related activity, stressing that community involvement is vital to the success of their mission.
