The concerned executives of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) Eastern Region chapter have made a demand for an immediate cessation of the compulsory insurance policy imposed on National Service personnel.

The concerned NASPA executives in the region are urging the National Service regional secretariat to reconsider their practice of enrolling incoming service personnel in the SIC and GLICO insurance policies without their consent.

They voiced their concerns about the potential for multiple deductions from different insurance policies, as a person could mistakenly enter their service number for SIC while someone else does the same for GLICO. This could result in deductions for two different insurance policies without the individual’s awareness, which is causing significant distress. Urgently, they call for an end to this practice.

The concerned NASPA executives also advised incoming national service personnel who have yet to complete their regional validation to carefully read any forms provided to them before signing and to decline signing if they disagree with the terms. They are encouraged to take pictures as evidence and to identify anyone attempting to force an insurance policy on them in order to report such cases to the Eastern Regional NSS secretariat.

Furthermore, the Kwahu South NASPA President, Shadrach Appiah, expressed his disappointment with the situation and urged his members to resist it. He called on the Eastern Regional National Service Scheme to promptly abandon the policy and allow NSS personnel to fulfill their service obligations to the country as required by law.
