Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has made fresh allegations regarding the construction of the National Cathedral project, which he believes is dubious. In a Facebook post on May 4, Ablakwa shared evidence he claims supports his allegations of criminal activity related to the project’s fundraising.

According to Ablakwa, the National Cathedral of Ghana had registered a subsidiary in Washington under a different name and with other trustees. He also provided documents to establish that a deceased person’s details were used in the application of the National Cathedral’s fundraising arm in the U.S. Ablakwa alleges the use of a dead person’s details to incorporate the National Cathedral in Washington, D.C. was fraudulent and could embarrass Ghana in the wake of the U.S. government’s clampdown on identity theft.

He called for the dissolution of the Board of Trustees, the secretariat’s closure, the contract’s abrogation, and the institution of a national inquiry into the matter.
