President John Dramani Mahama has announced that a National Economic Dialogue will be held on March 3rd and 4th, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre. The event aims to bring together key stakeholders to discuss pressing economic issues and develop actionable solutions for sustainable growth.
The dialogue will be led by President Mahama, who will deliver a keynote address on the theme: “Resetting Ghana: Building the Economy We Want Together.” This initiative fulfills his campaign promise to engage citizens in shaping the country’s economic future.
The discussions will center on six critical areas:
- Achieving Sustainable Macroeconomic Stability
- Promoting Economic Transformation
- Advancing Infrastructure Development
- Implementing Structural Reforms
- Ensuring Private Sector-Led Growth
- Restoring Good Governance and Combating Corruption
The goal of the National Economic Dialogue 2025 is to reset Ghana’s economy, ensuring long-term resilience and inclusive development. The government emphasizes that the forum will serve as a platform for building consensus and fostering collaboration among policymakers, private sector leaders, and other key stakeholders on priority policies and structural reforms.
As part of his 120-day Social Contract, President Mahama appointed a 7-member National Economic Dialogue Planning Committee on January 25, 2025. The committee is chaired by Dr. Ishmael Yamson and includes the following members:
- Dr. K.Y. Amoako
- Professor John Gatsi
- Mohammed Samara
- Nelly Mireku
- Anthony Sarpong
- Ernest De-Graft Egyir
Their primary responsibility is to organize and oversee the National Economic Dialogue (NED), ensuring it serves as an effective platform for addressing Ghana’s most pressing economic challenges.
This dialogue is a key component of President Mahama’s broader strategy to develop a four-year fiscal consolidation program, aimed at restoring stability and rebuilding the economy.
