Since the mass SIM registration exercise began, NCA has deactivated 6.1 million SIM cards not registered with a Ghana card.
These deactivated SIMs belong to subscribers who have only completed the first stage of the registration process. At a press briefing in Accra, NCA Director General Joe Anokye announced the Commission would deactivate about 11 million unregistered SIM cards by May.
He emphasized that the registration process for existing SIMs is closing. The remaining 11 million subscribers who have yet to begin the registration process have until the end of May 2023 to complete their SIM registration or risk having their SIMs deactivated from the network.
