John Dramani Mahama, the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has committed to ensuring that the upcoming December elections are peaceful.

The former president assured everyone, stating, “If there’s going to be violence, it will not come from us, the NDC.”

During a speech at the funeral of the late John Tia Akologo, a former Minister of Information, in Duusi, Talensi District of the Upper East Region, the NDC flagbearer urged the clergy to emphasize justice alongside peace, noting that justice is essential for a peaceful electoral process.

“We expect that the elections will be peaceful because we know we’re going to win. If there’s going to be violence, it will not come from us, the NDC. But I urge our Reverend Fathers to preach about justice as well as peace, because without justice, there can be no peace.”

“We are committed to peace, but we will resist any attempts to rig this election. I assure the Reverend Fathers that we will do our part to ensure a free, fair, and transparent election. We believe that God will deliver our country from the current crisis.”
