The New Juaben North Municipal Hospital is set to officially begin operations following months of delays that had raised concerns among residents.
Although President Nana Akufo-Addo commissioned the fully furnished 40-bed facility on December 5, 2024, the hospital has remained closed due to operational setbacks. However, a recent visit to the site on Tuesday, February 25, revealed that final preparations were underway, with technicians and painters adding the finishing touches ahead of the grand opening.
The hospital boasts modern medical facilities, including an X-ray unit, operating theater, maternity ward, pharmacy, laboratory, and outpatient department (OPD).
Speaking on the facility’s readiness, New Juaben North Municipal Health Director, Nana Yaa Konadu, confirmed that staff had undergone comprehensive training on using the hospital’s equipment.
“Our 40-bed capacity hospital is 100% complete. Staff training has been conducted on the use of the facility and its equipment. What remains is training on the X-ray, scan, and anesthetic machines,” she stated.
She further assured the public that the hospital would gradually phase in services, starting with the OPD before fully launching in-patient care.
“A week from today, we will begin OPD operations and gradually expand to in-patient services. Our team is in place, the equipment is ready, and we are finalizing administrative processes. We are optimistic that by March 3, we will be fully operational,” she added.
