The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has called on Ghanaian youth to avoid engaging in cybercrime, cautioning that what may appear to be a quick path to wealth can ultimately ruin lives and future careers.
Speaking at the 2026 Volta Youth Festival in Ho, the Acting Director-General, Mr. Divine Selase Agbeti, described cybercrime as a serious criminal act that often harms innocent victims.
He warned that a negative digital footprint can have lasting consequences, including reduced employment opportunities, travel restrictions, and limited access to education.
Mr. Agbeti also reaffirmed the CSA’s commitment to supporting young people with legitimate digital skills. He noted that the Authority is collaborating with regional bodies, local assemblies, private sector players, and educational institutions to empower the youth with opportunities that promote growth rather than setbacks.
The CSA’s message comes at a time of growing concern about cybercrime among young people in Ghana, with authorities stressing that the promise of quick money online often comes with significant long-term consequences.
