Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate for Klottey Korle, Valentino Nii Noi Nortey, has been placed in custody in Pennsylvania, United States, in connection with an alleged domestic violence incident in which he is accused of stabbing his wife.
The Lower Paxton Township Police Department confirmed that the 41-year-old politician was arrested following the incident, which occurred on the morning of Saturday, January 17, 2026.
Police reports indicate that officers were dispatched to a residence on Mayfair Drive in Harrisburg at approximately 10:00 a.m., where they discovered a woman with multiple stab wounds. Emergency medical personnel rendered immediate aid before transporting the victim to a nearby hospital.
In a statement issued on Monday, authorities said the woman is in stable condition. Police stressed that the incident was an isolated domestic case and posed no threat to public safety.
Investigators spent several hours at the Mayfair Drive residence on Saturday processing the scene and gathering forensic evidence as part of ongoing investigations.
Mr. Nortey, a well-known figure in Ghanaian politics who previously contested the highly competitive Klottey Korle parliamentary seat, now faces criminal charges in the United States.
Court records show that he was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge David Judy, who denied him bail, citing the seriousness of the attempted homicide charge and the circumstances of the arrest.
Mr. Nortey is currently being held at the Dauphin County Prison as his legal team prepares for a preliminary hearing scheduled for today, January 26, 2026. The hearing will determine whether there is sufficient evidence for the case to proceed to the Court of Common Pleas.
