The Government of Liberia has officially launched a specialized Content Monetization Training Program aimed at helping young digital creators turn their online talent into sustainable sources of income as the country accelerates its digital transformation agenda.
The two-day program, held on May 6–7, 2026, was organized through the Liberia Telecommunications Authority in partnership with the Ministry of Information and the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Officials say the initiative is designed to equip young Liberians with the skills needed to compete and earn within the global digital economy.
The training brought together approximately 200 selected participants chosen from more than 500 applicants nationwide. The participants included comedians, storytellers, social media influencers, media practitioners, and other emerging digital creators seeking to build professional online brands and monetize their content.
According to organizers, the program focused on practical monetization strategies that teach creators how to generate direct income from international digital platforms while also developing sustainable personal brands. Sessions covered audience growth strategies, video production, copyright awareness, branding, and content management.
A major component of the training also emphasized responsible digital content creation. Participants were encouraged to maintain ethical standards, promote positive national branding, and avoid relying on controversy or explicit material as shortcuts to online fame and financial success.
Speaking during the launch, Patrick Honnah said the initiative seeks to bridge the gap between creativity and income generation by ensuring Liberian youth become active participants in the rapidly expanding global digital economy rather than remaining passive consumers of online content.
Officials noted that the monetization initiative forms part of the broader Liberia Digital Transformation Project, a national program aimed at providing free digital skills training to 10,000 young people across the country. The government believes the project will help address youth unemployment while creating new economic opportunities in the technology and creative sectors.
The Ministry of Information also announced plans to introduce a Digital and New Media Ethics Code to guide content creators as Liberia’s online media landscape continues to expand. Authorities say the framework will promote professionalism, accountability, and responsible online engagement while supporting the long-term growth of the country’s digital creative industry.
