Police in the Ashanti Region have arrested a man accused of making threats against police and military personnel in a viral social media video.
The suspect, identified as Opoku Emmanuel, was arrested on Wednesday at Jacobu in the Amansie Central District by the Inspector General of Police’s Cyber Vetting and Enforcement Team in collaboration with local police officers.
According to police, the suspect appeared in a video while wearing a mask and allegedly warned security personnel against attempting to arrest armed robbers. He is also accused of threatening to kill any police officer who confronted him.
The video, which circulated widely on social media, triggered investigations by law enforcement authorities.
In an official statement, police confirmed that Opoku Emmanuel is currently in custody and is expected to be arraigned before court. Authorities added that investigations into the matter are ongoing.
