The government of Lebanon has condemns the attack on UN base that injured Ghanaian soldiers

The government of Lebanon has strongly condemned a missile attack on a base belonging to the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) in southern Lebanon that injured several Ghanaian peacekeepers on Friday, March 6, 2026.

The attack targeted the headquarters of the Ghanaian battalion, known as GHANBATT, located in the town of Al‑Quzah, South Lebanon. According to reports, three Ghanaian peacekeepers were injured when missiles struck the base.

Two of the soldiers sustained critical injuries, with one evacuated to a hospital in Beirut for emergency medical treatment. A third soldier suffered trauma following the explosion.

The strike also caused significant damage to the base, triggering a major fire that destroyed the Officers’ Mess facility.

The incident occurred between 5:45 p.m. and 5:52 p.m. local time during intense exchanges of fire between the Israel Defense Forces and the militant group Hezbollah in southern Lebanon.

Lebanese authorities have condemned the attack and called for respect for the safety of United Nations peacekeepers operating in the region.
