
Three students from schools run by the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have been recognized among the top 52 students honored at the 2026 President’s Independence Day Awards in Ghana.
The awards ceremony took place on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Accra International Conference Centre and celebrated outstanding academic performance in the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The honored students from Ghana Armed Forces schools include Ms. Abigail Agyeiwaa Asante from Michel Camp ‘2’ Junior High School in the Greater Accra Region, Mr. Blessing Nortey Dowuona from Garrison Primary and Junior High School at Burma Camp, and Ms. Angel Eyram Gbadegbenyo from Services Basic School.
The awards were presented by Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Vice President of Ghana, on behalf of John Dramani Mahama.
Each award recipient received a laptop, a commemorative plaque, a certificate signed by the President, and a one-year supply of products from Nestlé Ghana.
In total, 52 students were honored this year, representing all 16 regions of Ghana. The awardees were selected from both public and private schools and also included students with visual and hearing impairments, reflecting the country’s commitment to inclusive education and academic excellence.
