Former Uhuru Kenyatta arrived in Accra on the evening of April 27, 2026, to participate in a high-level meeting of the Tana Forum Board.
On April 28, Kenyatta joined a group of distinguished African leaders for the board session, which was chaired by former Ghanaian President John Dramani Mahama. The meeting focused on strengthening the forum’s role in shaping African-led responses to peace, security, and governance challenges across the continent.
Kenyatta, who became a member of the board in 2024, is among a select group of former heads of state tasked with providing strategic oversight and direction for the forum. His participation reflects his continued influence in regional diplomacy and conflict resolution efforts.
The discussions at the meeting centered on advancing practical solutions to ongoing conflicts and political instability in various parts of Africa. Kenyatta’s involvement also aligns with his broader role as an African Union envoy, where he has been engaged in mediation efforts in the Horn of Africa and the eastern regions of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
The board meeting brought together several prominent African figures committed to promoting stability and cooperation across the continent. Among them were Catherine Samba-Panza, PLO Lumumba, and Joyce Banda.
Upon his arrival at Kotoka International Airport, Kenyatta was received by Kenya’s High Commissioner to Ghana, Colonel (Rtd) Shem Ishmailidza Amadi.
The Tana Forum remains one of Africa’s leading platforms for dialogue on security and governance, bringing together policymakers, academics, and civil society leaders to promote homegrown solutions to the continent’s challenges.
