Nigerian politician, wife, and doctor convicted of organ trafficking

Capture

Ike Ekweremadu, his wife, Beatrice, and Dr. Obinna Obeta were all found guilty of facilitating the travel of a 21-year-old Lagos street trader to Britain with the intention of exploiting him for his kidney. The three individuals were found to have criminally conspired to commit this act.

The trial reportedly lasted for six weeks at the Old Bailey, a central criminal court in London, England. Ike Ekweremadu, who is 60 years old and an intending to exploit deputy president of the Nigerian Senate, and his co-defendants, Beatrice and Obeta, who are both 56 and 51 years old respectively, were all found guilty.

This case highlights the serious issue of human trafficking and organ harvesting, which is a crime that involves the forced removal of organs from a person for transplantation. Such activities are illegal and immoral, and those found guilty of such crimes should be held accountable for their action.
