NPP Presidential Contender Vetting

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is currently in the final stages of selecting its presidential contenders for the upcoming 2024 elections. The process of assessing the candidates began on Monday, July 3, 2023, with Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen being the first candidates to undergo evaluation.

The initial candidate to appear before the nine-member vetting committee is Mr. Kyerematen, a former Trade and Industry Minister. The committee, led by Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye, former Speaker of Parliament, will assess the candidates’ competence, qualifications, and contributions to the party.

After Mr. Kyerematen’s session, energy specialist Kwadwo Poku will be next in line for questioning, followed by Dr. Bawumia, as disclosed by Evans Nimako, Secretary to the Vetting Committee.

On Tuesday, the vetting process will continue with Boakye Kyeremanteng Agyarko, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, and Kennedy Ohene Agyapong.

Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Joe Ghartey will
take turns with the vetting committee on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. Lastly, Francis Addai-Nomoh will undergo vetting on Thursday, July 6, 2023.
