The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has established an eleven-member committee to oversee its presidential primaries. This committee’s main task is to evaluate all the candidates who have filed to compete as the party’s flagbearer in the 2024 general elections. The National Steering Committee chose the committee during a meeting on May 30.

The committee’s primary responsibility is to thoroughly assess the ten party stalwarts who have submitted their forms to participate in the flagbearer race. This crucial vetting process will significantly determine the party’s presidential candidate for the upcoming election. “The National Steering Committee, on behalf of the National Council, appointed Rt. Hon. Prof. Aaron Mike Oquaye as Chairman of the Vetting Committee for the Party’s Presidential Primary Election, as stipulated in Article 10(3)(F)(ii) of the Party’s Constitution,” stated the party.

The other members of the Vetting Committee include Kwasi Amoako Atta, Stephen Abankwa Sekyere, Osei Bonsu Amoah, Lord Oblitey Commey, Frank Davies, Hackman Owusu-Agyeman, and Adelaide Ahwireng.

In addition, Osei Bonsu Amoah, the Member of Parliament for Akuapem North Constituency and a member of the Vetting Committee, was appointed as the Committee’s Spokesperson. Evans Nimako, the Party’s Research and Elections Director, was appointed Committee Secretary.
