Police launch manhunt for gunmen who killed 2 Police officers in Binduri

The Ghana Police Service has launched a widespread manhunt to capture the armed assailants responsible for the fatal shooting of two police officers on April 13, 2025, in Poyamirea, a community on the outskirts of Binduri in the Upper East Region.

The officers, who were dressed in plain clothes, were traveling on a private motorbike from Bongo to Binduri when they were ambushed by gunmen.

Assistant Commissioner of Police, Grace Ansah-Akrofi, Director of Public Affairs, assured in a statement that the police are fully committed to ensuring the perpetrators are brought to justice.

“We want to assure the public that those responsible for this heinous act will be apprehended and held accountable. We will get them,” Ansah-Akrofi said.

The identities of the fallen officers have not been released as efforts are being made to notify their families in accordance with tradition and customs.

The Police Administration has expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the deceased officers, as well as to the Commander and all personnel in the Upper East Region.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with you,” Ansah-Akrofi added.

The police have vowed to continue their efforts to track down the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
