Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed has been granted bail by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) after honouring an invitation to assist with ongoing investigations into alleged vote-buying activities.
Baba Jamal reported to the OSP earlier and was interrogated for several hours over claims linked to a recent political party primary. Following the session, he was released on self-recognisance bail, pending further investigations.
Sources familiar with the matter indicate that the probe is focused on allegations that inducements may have been offered to delegates during the primary election. The OSP has clarified that the decision to grant bail does not imply guilt and that investigations are still underway.
Speaking after his release, Baba Jamal denied any wrongdoing and stated that he fully cooperated with investigators. He reiterated his confidence in the legal process and expressed readiness to support the OSP until the matter is concluded.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor has not disclosed whether charges will be filed, stressing that the investigation remains active as it works to establish the facts surrounding the allegations.
