President John Dramani Mahama has submitted his first batch of ministerial nominations to Parliament in line with Article 78 of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.

The nominees are:

  • Dr. Cassiel Ato Baah Forson for Minister of Finance
  • John Abdulai Jinapor for Minister of Energy
  • Dominic Akuritinga Ayine for Attorney-General and Minister for Justice

The presidency highlighted Dr. Forson’s extensive expertise in public finance, macroeconomics, fiscal policy, tax policy, and business management as key to his suitability for the finance ministry. A five-term Member of Parliament, Dr. Forson holds a Ph.D. in Finance from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology.

John Jinapor, nominated for the energy portfolio, is expected to leverage his strong background in energy economics and finance to bring “much-needed dynamism and capabilities” to the sector.

Dr. Ayine, an accomplished lawyer with over three decades of experience, previously served as Deputy Attorney General and Minister for Justice. He holds a Ph.D. in law from Stanford University and is known for his expertise in constitutional and administrative law.

The nominations are now subject to parliamentary approval.
