Former Black Stars striker Prince Tagoe has voiced his disappointment with the Black Stars’ performance in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The team has struggled in the qualifiers, securing only two points from their first three Group F matches, which include a loss to Angola and draws against Niger and Sudan.
Tagoe highlighted the players’ lack of intensity and character when playing for the national team compared to their club performances. He emphasized that the players need to bring the same level of effort they show at their clubs if they want to win games for the Black Stars.
“If the players can replicate at least 80% of their club performances, we will undoubtedly win games. We have talented players, but the character they show when playing for the Black Stars is lacking, and that has been our biggest issue,” Tagoe remarked on Bryt FM.
With two points from three games, Ghana must secure a victory in their return match against Sudan on Tuesday, October 15, to keep their hopes of qualifying for AFCON 2025 alive.
