Foreign Affairs Minister-Designate, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, has paid a courtesy visit to Dr. Obed Yao Asamoah, Ghana’s longest-serving Foreign Minister, to seek his counsel and draw from his wealth of experience.

Dr. Asamoah, 89, served as Foreign Minister for an impressive 16 years under President Jerry John Rawlings. He is also the only individual to have simultaneously held the positions of Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, making him a distinguished figure in Ghana’s political history.

During the visit, Ablakwa expressed his heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Asamoah for warmly welcoming him into his home, sharing valuable insights, and offering words of encouragement.

Describing the meeting as a “masterclass,” Ablakwa noted that he was particularly inspired by Dr. Asamoah’s unwavering confidence in President Mahama’s foreign policy vision and his prospects for success on the global stage.

The visit follows Ablakwa’s recent nomination as Foreign Affairs Minister-Designate by President Mahama, a role in which he has vowed to serve with patriotism, innovation, and integrity.

Ablakwa reaffirmed his commitment to working diligently in support of President Mahama to advance Ghana’s interests on the international front.
