Ghana national football team head coach Otto Addo has announced a 26-man squad for the team’s upcoming international friendlies against the Austria national football team and the Germany national football team.
The matches are expected to serve as important preparation for the 2026 FIFA World Cup as Ghana continues to build and evaluate its squad ahead of the global tournament. The newly announced squad includes four debutants alongside several experienced players returning to the national team setup.
Among the fresh faces receiving their first call-ups are Derrick Luckassen of Pafos FC, Patric Pfeiffer of SV Darmstadt 98, Marvin Senaya of AJ Auxerre, and Daniel Agyei of Kocaelispor. Their inclusion reflects the coaching staff’s effort to broaden the player pool and assess emerging talent ahead of upcoming competitive fixtures.
Several key players have also returned to the Black Stars squad. Midfielder Thomas Partey of Villarreal CF, forward Iñaki Williams of Athletic Club, and defender Alexander Djiku of Spartak Moscow are among the notable names making their return to the national team roster.
However, the squad will be without some prominent figures. Midfielder Mohammed Kudus has been left out as he continues to recover from a quadriceps injury sustained in January. Veteran forward and long-time captain Andre Ayew was also not included in the squad, along with winger Joseph Paintsil of LA Galaxy.
The goalkeeping department for the friendlies will feature Lawrence Ati-Zigi, Benjamin Asare, and Joseph Anang. The rest of the squad includes a mix of defenders, midfielders, and forwards drawn from clubs across Europe and other leagues.
Ghana will first take on Austria in a friendly match in Vienna on March 27 before traveling to Stuttgart to face Germany on March 30. The two fixtures are expected to provide valuable tactical testing and squad assessment as the Black Stars continue preparations for future international competitions.
