Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s bid to become the ruling New Patriotic Party’s presidential candidate in the upcoming 2024 general elections received a significant boost. A substantial number of traders, representing 26 identifiable groups from Kejetia Racecourse and Central Market, declared their unwavering support for him on Thursday, November 2, 2023.

During a press conference held at Kejetia Market on the same day, these traders, who are predominantly supporters of the New Patriotic Party, intensified their calls for party delegates to vote decisively for Bawumia in the forthcoming presidential primaries scheduled for Saturday.

The traders expressed their determination to invest their own resources and energy into campaigning vigorously for Dr. Bawumia’s presidential candidacy in 2024. They emphasized that NPP delegates should unite behind the Vice President.

Elder Emmanuel Jacking, Chairman of the Identifiable Groups at Kejetia, noted that their daily interactions with various individuals had revealed widespread support for Dr. Bawumia’s presidential aspirations among Ghanaians. He stressed that Bawumia is seen as the ideal candidate to continue the work initiated by President Akufo-Addo.

Furthermore, Jacking urged supporters of different presidential aspirants to avoid engaging in derogatory politics and insinuations, reminding them that the election process is an internal party matter.

Members of the identifiable groups among the traders highlighted Dr. Bawumia’s dedication to transforming the country into a digitized economy and urged NPP delegates to vote for him on Saturday. They believe he is the preferred choice of the majority of Ghanaians to lead the party to victory in the 2024 general elections.

The traders also called for peace and unity within the party throughout the entire electoral process, aiming to secure a successful outcome in the 2024 general elections.
