2023 BUDGET WILL HEIGHTEN UNEMPLOYEMENT IN GHANA – Haruna Iddrisu

A hiring moratorium in the public sector, according to the minority in parliament, would exacerbate the already dismal unemployment situation.

They argue that the government should compare the present unemployment rate to the number of young people who might soon be unemployed.

The government has imposed a ban on hiring for public service beginning in January 2023 as part of cabinet orders for spending optimization in the 2023 Budget.

Minority Leader Haruna Iddrisu said the 2023 Budget showed the country’s catastrophic plight at a post-budget workshop in the Ho, Volta Region.

To paraphrase what I heard from the Honorable Minister of Finance, we loaded the 2023 budget statement with proof that the government is simply bankrupt and the economy is in crisis in Ghana. “Mr. Speaker, Ghana’s economy, and as I listened to him.
