The second edition of the Africa Cinema Summit (ACS) kicks off today at the Movenpick Hotel in Accra. Organized by Ghana’s National Film Authority (NFA), the event runs from October 7 to October 10 under the theme, “Is Cinema Relevant in African Communities?”

Renowned British actor and Chairman of IE7 & The Akuna Group, Idris Elba, will headline the summit, with King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, Ga Mantse, serving as the Guest of Honour on October 8.

The summit will bring together representatives from African nations such as Morocco, Namibia, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Angola, along with executives from the African diaspora and key investment bodies, including Afreximbank and IFC.

During the launch of ACS in June, NFA CEO Juliet Asante highlighted the untapped potential of Africa’s film industry. The summit aims to address this by promoting collaboration, innovation, and sustainable growth across the African cinema landscape.
